Leonie & 'Cassie'

"After waiting two years to receive a mobility dog the wait was finally over. In May I was fortunate enough to be matched with ‘Cassie’ – a two year old golden retriever. Our bond was strong from the start and it continues to grow. She has had an immensely positive impact on my life to date. With ‘Cassie’ beside me I have found that the public is more comfortable to approach and talk to me. At University ‘Cassie’ has helped me to make new friends.

‘Cassie’ is able to push buttons including lift buttons which is something I am physically unable to do. She can also retrieve dropped items when commanded. Having ‘Cassie’ is like having an extra pair of hands. After working with ‘Cassie’ for five months I can safely say that the wait has been worth it. I don’t know where I would be without her. Having her as my service dog is wonderful."
